El Dorado Golf and Country Club
The El Dorado Golf and Country Club personifies traditional southern graciousness blended with all the modern amenities. Established in 1923 during El Dorado's oil boom days, the Club has grown over the years to provide a variety of activities for members. The club features a historic golf course set on gently rolling terrain lined with 60-year-old oak trees. A family dining room, formal dining room and mixed grill are some of the places in the clubhouse where members gather.
A swimming pool and tennis court also offer exercise and enjoyment for members of all ages. The recently renovated formal dining room is often the site of wedding receptions and private parties and is reservable in a first come, first served basis.
The golf course is a throwback to the way golf used to be played. While it is situated on only 90 acres, the natural terrain of large oak and pine trees allows it to play longer than the listed yardages. No matter your skill level, you will always find the narrow fairways and small greens a worthy challenge.
The tree-lined fairways place a premium on accuracy off the tee and the greens are small and well-bunkered. The championship tees play 6,500 yards, while the membership tees play 6,150 yards. The greens were resurfaced in June of 2000 with a new strand of Bermuda grass, Tif-Eagle, yielding an almost grainless putting surface with speed reminiscent of bent grass greens. Currently, the club is adding six new tees to make the golf course more enjoyable for the senior golfers. We are also in the process of leveling and enlarging other tees to make your golf experience better.
