SUMMARY:Friends of Barton Library Spring Book Sale
DESCRIPTION:Public libraries thrive due to donations and fundraisers made possible by groups like the Friends of Barton Library. \nThe organization’s book sale benefit\, which is held in the spring and the fall\, is set to begin Monday\, March 27 with the Friends’ members-only shop. Throughout the rest of the week\, it will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each weekday and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at Barton Library\, 200 East Fifth. The sale will be located under cover on the backside of the building and will happen rain or shine. \nThe event will include both books and magazines donated by the public and the Union County Public Library System. Every genre – from fiction\, non-fiction\, mystery\, how-to\, sci-fi and even children’s books – will be available. Hardback books are $1\, paperback books are 50 cents and magazines are 10 cents. On Saturday\, shoppers will be able to fill a box with books for $5. Cash and check will be accepted. \nThe fundraiser is important to the Friends and helps the organization raise funds to put toward special projects at the library. In the past\, FOBL have purchased new tables in the children’s library. \nMonday’s member-only sale\, which will kick off the week-long event\, is just one benefit of joining the organization. FOBL dues are $5 a year and families are $10 a year. The group meets regularly every other month. \nFor more information\, visit www.ucpls.org.
