SUMMARY:SAAC - Handmade Vintage Christmas Cards: "Oh\, Christmas Tree"
DESCRIPTION:The South Arkansas Arts Center (SAAC) is hosting a four-session watercolor series led by local artist Nancy Williams\, where participants will create handmade vintage Christmas cards. Each session will take place on Monday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.\, October 27 through November 17\, 2025. Whether you join for one evening or all four\, you’ll leave with a hand-painted greeting card to share with loved ones—or to treasure for yourself. \nEach of the four sessions will feature a different card design. On October 27\, participants will paint It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas\, a warm-toned forest of whimsical “waffle cone” trees with a classic Merry Christmas greeting. On November 3\, the class will create Golden Joy\, a glowing gold ornament accented with red berries and greenery. November 10 brings Oh\, Christmas Tree\, celebrating a cheerful Christmas tree decorated with red balls\, a golden star\, and wrapped packages below. The series concludes on November 17 with Merry Baubles\, a festive design featuring a candy cane surrounded by red\, green\, and gold ornaments.

DESCRIPTION:The South Arkansas Arts Center invites the community to explore the art of storytelling through collage and paper craft at “Mini Masterpieces: A Collage Zine Workshop\,” led by El Dorado native and University of Arkansas student Jill Stone\, on Saturday\, November 15\, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The full-day workshop is $40. \nThis hands-on workshop will guide participants through the process of creating mini collage zines—small\, handmade paper books often called mini magazines or fan zines. Using folded paper\, participants will construct pocket-sized books of eight pages each\, with the opportunity to produce multiple zines throughout the day. \nStone will encourage participants to draw inspiration from favorite poems\, literary works\, or their own original writing\, pairing words with images in inventive collages. Using found and recycled materials—books\, magazines\, packaging\, tags\, labels\, scraps\, and more—participants will transform everyday paper into artful expressions of creativity.

DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Arkansas Cinema Society (ACS) and the University of Central Arkansas Film Department are teaming up with the El Dorado Film Festival (EDFF) to present the Filmland: Arkansas Road Show on Wednesday\, Nov. 19th at 6:00 pm at Stars Cinema 6\, located at 2600 W Hillsboro St. in El Dorado. This free event will feature short films by Arkansas residents and natives along with a discussion on how people can get involved in filmmaking in the state. A Filmmaker Mixer will take place at the theater beforehand at 5:00 pm and is open to everyone. \n  \n“Growing up in South Arkansas\, I never thought of filmmaking as a career because it just seemed so out of reach\,” said ACS Education Director Kody Ford. “But the El Dorado Film Festival has really changed the game and brought independent movies to the region. And now\, students can enroll in top notch filmmaking programs at schools like UCA in Conway. So\, we are very excited to team up so anyone\, young or old who is interested\, can learn more about filmmaking in our state and how they can get involved.” \n  \nThe evening will feature films by Smackover natives Clayton Henderson and Javion Lee alongside selections from the El Dorado Film Festival and ACS’s Filmland: Arkansas program. Ford will discuss career paths in Arkansas for anyone interested in filmmaking. UCA professor Emily Railsback will also talk about the school’s undergraduate and graduate programs in filmmaking. EDFF Executive Director Alexander Jeffery will preview the upcoming festival\, taking place Feb. 25-March 1\, 2026\, at the South Arkansas Arts Center. \n  \nAbout The El Dorado Film Festival \nEstablished in 2014\, the El Dorado Film Festival (EDFF) offers a curated selection of independent cinema to audiences in El Dorado—a small town with a unique history in the arts.
