DESCRIPTION:They both came from the ground one for food and the other for money. How did one make a difference to the other? Come and learn this fun kid – friendly introduction of the history of gardening in the 1920’s and the effects that the oil boom played on it in south Arkansas. Visitors will have the opportunity learn a little history\, while participating in a couple of hands – on gardening projects\, that should result in both growth and charted observation. The visitors will learn as south Arkansan’s did in the 1920’s responsibility\, teamwork and respect for nature. (Take a tour around the park and see machinery and pictures of equipment used during that time).

Let’s explore how the 1920s oil boom impacted the daily lives of people residing in south Arkansas. The effects of the discovery of black gold brought new technology into the region\, such as the widespread adoption of electricity in both homes and businesses. We will explore how an electrical circuit works. Tinker with recycled materials\, such as wires taken from holiday lights\, aluminum foil and art foam\, to make electrical circuits that can power different objects\, such as LEDs\, holiday lights\, etc. Then connect science to history with a scavenger hunt. How quickly can you find photos of home appliances from the 1920s? Can you find them all before time is up? Once you’ve found the photos\, learn about some of the appliances found in a 1920s home compared to the homes of today.

ACS Executive Director Kathryn Tucker is pleased to bring the film to El Dorado. “We are very excited to bring Raya and the Last Dragon to El Dorado and the Murphy Arts District\,” said Tucker. “Highlighting Arkansas creatives is a big part of what we do. We are pleased to see an Arkansan like Qui Nguyen go on to do big things and work with Disney on such a fantastic film.”

DESCRIPTION:The Drone Licensing Test Prep Course offered by Unmanned Aerial Solutions of Arkansas is designed to help people with little to no prior aviation experience prepare for the FAA exam very quickly. The course will cover all five sections of the FAA exam (Regulations\, Airspace\, Weather\, Performance\, and Operations) within one 8-hour session.  Participants will also take a practice test to help determine areas that need more study\, and our textbook provides codes for an additional 5 free practice tests online. Our Test Prep course is a great place to start learning the legal and practical side of drone flying!\nOur instructor is Brandon Guillot\, owner of Unmanned Aerial Solutions of Arkansas. Brandon has over fourteen years of recreational and commercial UAS experience\, holds both a FAA Private Pilot and Remote Private Certificate\, educates and trains UAS pilots\, and provides aerial photography services. Tab Benoit has built a remarkable 30+ year career on the foundation of his gritty and soulful Delta swamp blues. While acquiring a devoted legion of fans\, Benoit has earned 5 Blues Music Awards\, including BB King Entertainer of the Year (twice) and an induction into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. He has recorded and/or performed with Junior Wells\, George Porter Jr.\, Dr. John\, Willie Nelson\, and Billy Joe Shaver to name a few. Tab’s accomplishments as a musician are matched only by his devotion to the environmental health of his native Louisiana wetlands. Benoit is the founder and driving force behind Voices of the Wetlands\, an organization working to preserve the coastal waters of his home state. In 2010\, he received the Governor’s Award for Conservationist of the Year from the Louisiana Wildlife Federation. Benoit also starred in the iMax motion picture Hurricane on the Bayou\, a documentary of Hurricane Katrina’s effects and a call to protect and restore the wetlands. “We are really looking forward to a night of top-notch blues music at MAD.
