Scheduled for Saturday\, February 12 at 6:30 p.m.\, the black-tie event will be headlined by the first-ever public performance of Amy Allen and Ed Alderson\, whose musical stylings range from American standards to rock and roll royalty. The festive event was conceived by the duo\, both lifelong musicians and El Dorado natives\, as a fundraiser for SAAC’s Arts in Education outreach. The evening will begin with a drinks and hors d’oeuvres party in the Merkle and Price Galleries at 6:30. Guests will be treated to a tempting menu of savory and sweets created by Upper Crust Catering\, along with wine\, beer\, and a signature cocktail\, while mingling with friends amidst the original artwork of the Viewfinder Photography exhibition. At 7:30\, the concert will begin with opening act Mason Halstead and Carmelo Brown\, both students at El Dorado High School who grew up performing and learning at SAAC. After a brief intermission\, Amy and Ed will take the stage for their musical collaboration. The night will be a true artistic first\, and an unprecedented opportunity to see this dynamic pair in action\, while also supporting SAAC’s educational programs. DESCRIPTION:At the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources\, we offer a variety of age-appropriate programs that help children explore local history. Join us for a hands-on discovery of birds found in the oil field. We will explore the Oil Field Park to find the different birds that call this area home during the winter time\, and to see how the discovery of oil affected local wildlife. Then make your own bird craft\, as we learn fun facts about our feathered friends. This program is designed for children 2 to 5 years of age. Reservations for the programs are required. Please contact the museum at (870) 725-2877 to reserve a place for the activity. Adults are required to remain with their children during the program. Covid-19 guidelines will be in effect for guest and staff safety. Space may be limited.

DESCRIPTION:The Viewfinder 2022 Photography Competition will be on exhibit in the Merkle and Price Galleries February 8-25. The artists’ reception will be hosted Thursday\, February 17\, 5:30-7:00 p.m. with the Awards Presentation at 6:00 p.m. This year’s event is sponsored by the “El Dorado Insider” and The Diamond Agency. Judging this year’s competition is Dero Sanford. A professional photographer specializing in custom advertising work\, he owns ThinkDero\, Inc. in Little Rock. His work can be seen on his website\, www.thinkdero.com. Sanford loves adventure\, photography\, good film\, and spending his days with his son\, Solomon. Having graduated from Oklahoma State University\, Okmulgee\, with a degree in photography\, he quickly found himself immersed in the advertising scene. Working for various magazines\, agencies\, and companies he began to build an impressive client base. He is very personable\, and his passion for fun\, painless photography can be seen in all of his work. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday\, 9:00-5:00.
