Job Description
South Arkansas College is seeking a qualified professional to serve as the Associate of Applied Science Traditional Nursing Program Director. This full-time faculty position is responsible for development and maintenance of a comprehensive, standards-based nursing curriculum that aligns with Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN) requirements, national accreditation standards, Arkansas Division of Higher Education requirements, and institutional policies as well as direct instruction of the elements of the educational material.
The position may require evening and weekend work hours. This role is exempt, 100% grant-funded, and governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
Salary: Annual salary of $65,000. Plus, excellent benefit package.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops, revises, and evaluates curriculum of program to assure that all theory and clinical content and required hours include areas required by ASBN (Arkansas State Board of Nursing) minimum standards and accreditation entities when/if applicable.
- Completes and submits program documents required by ASBN and/or accreditation entities when/if applicable. Assures that nursing program abides by college, ASBN, and accreditation (when/if applicable) regulations, rules, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- The Associate of Applied Science Traditional Nursing Program Director oversees program nursing faculty and staff in duties, responsibilities, and compliance with curriculum content.\
- Plans and develops programs as needed, including both short and long-range planning.
- Collaborates with the Dean of Health Sciences and Director of Nursing Programs in coordination and scheduling of nursing courses each semester.
- Develops student, faculty, and support staff policies and procedures in conjunction with faculty input.
- Coordinates with faculty members to develop and maintain current master and course syllabi by college policy.
- Conducts classes as scheduled.
- Maintains accurate academic and attendance records, and submit required reports promptly.
- Evaluates student performance fairly and timely, providing meaningful feedback.
- Supports student success through advising, remediation, and retention efforts.
- Coordinates with faculty members to perform assessment of program nursing courses and submission of course assessment reports as per college policy.
- Maintains comprehensive system of records for administration, faculty and students as per college policy and ASBN and accreditation (when/if applicable) regulations; prepares reports for internal and external purposes; and carries on correspondence relating to the programs.
- Prepare and manage departmental and program budgets including the following: recommends and administers selected budgeted components for the programs.
- Plans and prepares program publications, brochures, applicable sections of the college catalog, articulation agreements, MOU’s, etc., as applicable.
- Collect and report degree program graduate statistics for annual reports.
- Reviews and recommends faculty and/or staff for hire, promotion, salary increase, and/or nonrenewal of employment agreements based upon evaluation procedures if/when applicable.
- Collaborates with the Dean of Health Sciences in approving faculty requests for travel, leave of absence, and/or professional activities.
- Serves on college committees and councils and attends meetings as appointed.
- Develops and implements policies related to admission, retention, and progression of students, including initiation and coordination of student selection from application to admission into the program.
- Provides academic advisement to students.
- Plans and implements student recruitment programs.
- Assesses and evaluates student retention and attrition to include policies for retention improvement.
- Collaborates with the Dean of Health Sciences to initiate and maintain current contractual agreements with clinical agencies.
- Oversees program nursing faculty and staff in duties, responsibilities, and compliance with college policies and procedures.
- Develops preceptorship/internship experiences where applicable.
- Collaborates with faculty to procure and implement use of equipment, supplies, electronic technology, applicable software, and learning resources for class, lab, and/or clinical delivery and enhancement.
- Collaborates with the Dean of Health Sciences to ensure efficient use of instructional resources to facilitate student progress toward meeting objectives.
- Participates in scholarly and service activities that include current nursing education and professional development.
- Encourages faculty and staff to participate in scholarly and service activities that include current nursing education and professional development.
- Plans, coordinates, and conducts annual advisory committee meetings, including collaboration to assess the needs of the community and respond appropriately. Maintain documented minutes of such meetings.
- Promotes additional educational experiences for students such as attendance at conferences, workshops, seminars, and participation in ASBN disciplinary hearings.
- Assumes leadership for accreditation/approval procedures and activities for the nursing program.
- Schedules and conducts regular faculty meetings with maintenance of documented minutes.
- Participates in community, recruitment, and marketing activities to promote the nursing program.
- Secure and maintain community clinical partnerships for student practicum experiences.
- Incorporate evidence-based practice, student learning outcomes, and assessment strategies throughout the curriculum.
- Identify instructional resources, textbooks, simulation experiences, and clinical components appropriate for the program.
- Travel to local, regional, and state and national entities which are integral to the development and maintenance of the program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Skills and Abilities:
- Competency with computer-based and internet-based technology for nursing education.
- Executive functions needed to make judgements and decisions regarding nursing education.
- Deductive, inductive, and abstract reasoning to solve complex problems.
- Emotional regulation to manage multiple tasks, projects, and interactions within a limited amount of time.
- Communication skills for individual, small group, and large group interactions with both internal personnel and external stakeholders.
Required Education and Experience:
- Holds a valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing license to practice in Arkansas.
- Minimum of a master’s degree in nursing and previous experience in clinical nursing practice and nursing education.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Holds a valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing license to practice in Arkansas.
- Previous experience developing or revising nursing curricula at the associate degree level.
- Familiarity with accreditation standards and program approval processes.
- Experience working in a community college or higher education setting.
Physical Requirements:
