Job Description

The Substitute Teacher for the Secondary Technical Center will fill in for regular instructors across various technical programs. This hourly position involves monitoring students and ensuring that they stay on task in the absence of their regular instructor. Lesson plans and tasks will be provided by the original instructor, and the substitute will ensure a safe and productive learning environment without the expectation of direct teaching. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.

Salary: $20 per hour. This is a part-time position and hours may vary.

Supervisory Responsibilities: NA

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain student attendance records.
  • Distribute student classroom work per instructor instructions.
  • Monitor student classroom activities and guide student classroom work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to use professional technology to conduct college-related business (ex. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to maintain order and structure in the classroom or lab environment.
  • Capable of supervising students and addressing minor behavior issues effectively and appropriately.

Job Requirements

Required Education and Experience:

Formal education equivalent of a high school diploma and/or GED. Must be able to complete Mandated Reporter Training and pass Child Maltreatment Central Registry Check.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Formal education equivalent of a high school diploma and/or GED. Must be able to complete Mandated Reporter Training and pass Child Maltreatment Central Registry Check.

Physical Requirements:

The individual must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 25 lbs.
