SUMMARY:SAAC: Auditions for "Dracula: A Comedy of Errors."
DESCRIPTION:The South Arkansas Arts Center (SAAC) invites aspiring actors and theatre lovers ages 17 and older to audition for its upcoming fall production\, Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors\, sponsored by AmerCable and Southern Bancorp. Auditions will be held Monday and Tuesday\, September 14 and 15\, with performances scheduled for October 27 through November 1. \nAudition registration will begin at 6:30 p.m. on both Monday and Tuesday\, followed by auditions at 7 p.m. Participants may attend either or both audition nights. Before auditions begin\, actors will be asked to complete an audition form and have their picture taken. Callbacks will be held Wednesday\, September 16\, at 6:30 p.m.\, if needed. \nThose auditioning should expect cold readings from the script and should also be prepared to participate in improv and theatre games. No advance preparation is required. Actors should wear appropriate footwear for movement and\, most importantly\, come ready to have fun.

DESCRIPTION:Evan James and The South Arkansas Arts Center (SAAC) invites the community to experience You Have No Idea How Talented My Friends Are\, a special exhibition featuring artwork by clients of Magnolia Specialized Services (MSS). The exhibit will be on display in SAAC’s Lobby Gallery from July 21 through July 29\, with a public reception on Friday\, July 24\, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. \nThe exhibition celebrates the creativity and artistic accomplishments of 40 MSS artists through a diverse collection of ceramics\, paintings\, and sculptures. It is presented in celebration of the life of Joan Louise Murphree\, a devoted collector and patron of artwork created by Magnolia Specialized Services artists. Her encouragement and support helped champion the talents of countless artists\, and her private collection from MSS will be auctioned during the exhibition. \nSince 1968\, Magnolia Specialized Services has served adults and children with developmental disabilities through programs that promote inclusion\, independence\, and personal growth. In 2012\, MSS expanded its mission by establishing an art program that provides clients with opportunities to explore a wide variety of artistic media while developing creative skills and self-expression. Artwork created through the program is regularly exhibited and sold at businesses\, festivals\, and art shows throughout the region\, with artists receiving the proceeds from the sale of their work. By sharing their art with the public\, participating artists gain confidence while helping raise awareness of their unique talents and abilities.

DESCRIPTION:Get ready for an evening of fast-paced fun and original art as the South Arkansas Arts Center (SAAC) hosts its annual 5×5 Art Dash on Tuesday\, May 5\, 2026\, at 5:00pm. This highly anticipated fundraising event continues to be a favorite in the community\, bringing together artists and art lovers for a lively and memorable experience. The event is generously sponsored once again by Bruce Coffey of East Camden and Highland Railroad. \nThe 5×5 Art Dash offers attendees the unique opportunity to take home original artwork\, often valued well beyond the ticket price. Each participating artist creates a one-of-a-kind piece on a 5-inch by 5-inch canvas\, resulting in a diverse and dynamic collection that reflects the creativity of the region. \nGuests who purchase a $50 ticket will enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 5:00pm\, leading up to the main event. At 5:30pm\, the excitement builds as the bell rings and participants “dash” to claim their favorite pieces. Each ticket admits two people\, but only one original artwork may be selected per ticket. With a limited number of tickets available\, early purchase is strongly encouraged.
