Join us for a FREE seminar that will discuss the importance of decisional capacity in exercising personal autonomy. We will explore the challenges faced by patients who lack capacity, understand where decision-making authority resides, and learn how and when to identify a substitute decision maker for adult patients.
Participants will learn how to:
-
Identify the ethical standards that practitioners follow when working with adult patients.
-
Analyze the key factors that determine decisional capacity in adult patients.
-
Explain the legal and ethical considerations involved in choosing a substitute decision maker for an adult patient.
Presented by D. Micah Hester, PhD, Chair of the Department of Medical Humanities & Bioethics at UAMS.
