On October 9, 1902, City Marshal Guy B. Tucker confronted his bitter rivals, the Parnell Brothers. In a flurry of gunfire, three men were dead and the Marshal seriously wounded. Each summer, a historical re-enactment of this infamous gunfight is performed on the exact location where the feud began over 100 years ago.
The El Dorado Film Festival was founded in 2014 as part of the South Arkansas Arts Center’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. Filmmakers and patrons alike rave about the experience of bringing outstanding independent films to South Arkansas.
The outdoor Murphy Arts District Amphitheater plays host to outdoor films, concerts, music festivals, and a seasonal Farmer’s Market in El Dorado, Arkansas. The spacious lawn is open daily and can be used for multiple activities including family picnics or basking in the sun with your favorite book.
