Based on the 1988 film *Hairspray*, set in 1960s Baltimore, the story follows Tracy Turnblad, a confident girl who dreams of dancing on a TV show. Despite her weight and modest background, she impresses judges and becomes a local star. When she chooses a Black partner, the racist director opposes her, but Tracy leads a rebellion against segregation. In the end, she wins the contest and champions equality.
