SAAC: Artwork by Clients of Magnolia Special Services, Also Featuring Evan James’ Art

Evan James and The South Arkansas Arts Center (SAAC) invites the community to experience You Have No Idea How Talented My Friends Are, a special exhibition featuring artwork by clients of Magnolia Specialized Services (MSS). The exhibit will be on display in SAAC’s Lobby Gallery from July 21 through July 29, with a public reception on Friday, July 24, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The exhibition celebrates the creativity and artistic accomplishments of 40 MSS artists through a diverse collection of ceramics, paintings, and sculptures. It is presented in celebration of the life of Joan Louise Murphree, a devoted collector and patron of artwork created by Magnolia Specialized Services artists. Her encouragement and support helped champion the talents of countless artists, and her private collection from MSS will be auctioned during the exhibition.
Since 1968, Magnolia Specialized Services has served adults and children with developmental disabilities through programs that promote inclusion, independence, and personal growth. In 2012, MSS expanded its mission by establishing an art program that provides clients with opportunities to explore a wide variety of artistic media while developing creative skills and self-expression. Artwork created through the program is regularly exhibited and sold at businesses, festivals, and art shows throughout the region, with artists receiving the proceeds from the sale of their work. By sharing their art with the public, participating artists gain confidence while helping raise awareness of their unique talents and abilities.
