Tinker Time for Kids: Horsehead, Walking Beam and Samson Posts
What is a horsehead and what does it have to do with oil? What about a walking beam and
samson posts? Learn about a few of the machines used in oil drilling and production during the 1920s South Arkansas oil boom and in later decades. Hear exciting stories of the people who worked those machines and often endured dangerous conditions. Then complete a hands-on project of a pumping unit using cardstock, scissors and a variety of other materials.
Please contact the museum at (870) 725-2877 to reserve a place in the program. This program is designed for children from ages 6 to 12 but all are welcome. Adults are required to remain with their children for the duration of the program.
