Job Description
The Director of Advising is a full-time, 12-month position that reports to the Dean of Enrollment Management. The position is responsible for leading the college’s advising efforts including but not limited to facilitating the advising process for students, managing the advising budget, and supervising the advising staff. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.
Salary: Annual salary range of $48,000-$52,000 to commensurate with education and experience. Plus, excellent benefit package.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervision of academic advisors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of academic advising
- Develop, implement, evaluate, maintain and modify policies, procedures and practices pertaining to academic advising
- Design, implement, and assess ongoing training programs for academic advisors to ensure quality and consistent academic advising services to all students and alignment with institutional policies
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate various programs and materials to meet advising and retention objectives.
- Supervise advising staff to ensure the provision of excellent service to students
- Create, review, and update graduation plans with students to promote personal growth, academic excellence, career development, and timely degree completion
- Assess, evaluate, and further develop first-year advising and retention strategies
- Ensure the delivery of accurate, relevant, and timely information to students concerning early advising option, graduation requirements, and other relevant information
- Maintain and update advisor and advisee information found on the college website, online catalog, in Jenzabar, and other housed locations
- Develop, implement, and assess academic advising priorities, goals, and action plans in conjunction with Dean of Enrollment Management to enhance student progress to degree completion
- Collect and review student data to evaluate enrollment levels, retention rates, and department outcomes
- Maintain accurate records on students, services, and programs through academic advising
- Assist the Dean of Enrollment Management with other relevant services, strategies, and/or activities

Job Requirements
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 to 7 years’ experience in higher education including academic advising and supervision.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master’s degree in higher education, administration, counseling, or related field with 3 to 5 years’ experience in academic advising or a closely related student services area and experience using the Jenzabar (J1) student information system.
Physical Requirements:
Frequently sitting for extended periods of time.
