Job Description
Position Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors’ degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent work experience. Additional class work in management type courses and benefit administration is also preferred.
Experience/Skills/Abilities: Five to seven years of broad human resources experience, of which at least two years should be as a human resources generalist. One or two years’ experience in managing human resources and activities. Experience working in a Lean Manufacturing Environment desired.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Communication
- Communicate persuasively and effectively in positive or negative situations in both written and verbal forms.
- Professionally conduct group presentations and lead meetings.
- Facilitate communication as necessary with other organizations and relevant authorities to include but not limited to: Federal, State and local government and other compliance officers .
- Conduct and communicate audit results to management, staff and/or employees.
Employee Development
- Assessment of overall company training needs.
- Develop individual Competency Development Plans (CDP) to ensure growth opportunities and continuous improvement.
- Develop, recommend or source appropriate training material/programs.
- Deliver training to appropriate employees.
Company Policies, Legal and Labor Agreement
- Propose and publish policies and procedures.
- Manage the administration of human resources policies and Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Ensure compliance with corporate policy.
- Evaluate, recommend and research Collective Bargaining Agreement language changes or additions.
- Actively participates in Labor Negotiations.
Benefit Management
- Manage the administration of benefit programs.
- Manage the audit process to ensure accuracy and compliance of benefit programs with vendors, labor agreement and payroll.
Recruiting/Retention
- Manage the recruitment, hiring and retention of company employees.
- Develop and ensure effective procedures are in place, in compliance with legislative and company policy governing recruitment and selection.
- Manage the process of job bids, transfers and evaluations to ensure compliance with the labor agreement and company policies.
Employee Relations and Labor Management
- Responsible for labor relations, provides advice and counsel on personnel issues.
- Investigate complaints, plan and implement strategy for discipline or grievance counseling
- Actively promote the HR Pledge to recognize the value of all employees to improve morale, motivate employees and develop a culture of continuous improvement.
Health and Safety
- Provide backup and assistance to the Safety Engineer on work related injuries.
Payroll
- Manage the payroll processing responsibilities for facility.
- Manage the administration of the attendance policy.
Lean Enterprise
- Establish and utilize frameworks and systems, including tools such as visual management, problem solving, standard work and kaizen.
- Adheres to and promotes the HR Pledge
- Ability to cooperate and commit in a team environment to achieve goals and deliverables
- Resolve difficult or complicated challenges using the problem solving process
- Actively embrace our core principals using courage, humility and kaizen
- Responsible for creating a lean culture.
- Provide coaching to management, staff and employees to ensure support of the lean culture.
Job Requirements
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise the day-to-day workflow of department employees.
- Responsible for the training, guidance, and discipline of assigned staff.
Travel required: Up to 25%: a valid driver’s license and ability to insure employee as a driver under the company auto policy is required..
Hours: Regular 40 hour work week. Frequent overtime required.
Working conditions: Office setting and factory floor.
