Job Summary: The Public Safety Officer is responsible for providing campus safety and security to Howard Hall, a residence facility, as well as campus patrol as needed. This role includes providing basic public assistance services as needed. This position is governed by law enforcement standards, applicable state and federal laws, and institutional policies and procedures.
Hours for this position consistent of rotating 12-hour shifts from 6 pm to 6 am, including nights and weekends.
Salary/Exemption Status: Salary range of $36,000-$40,000 to commensurate with education and experience. Plus, excellent benefit package. This is a non-exempt position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Required Education and Experience: The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus, one year of experience in law enforcement or a related field.
Must be certified as a Law Enforcement Officer by the Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training, or an approved law enforcement training academy, in accordance with ACA 12-9-106 or be able to become certified within one (1) year of hire date.
Must possess valid Arkansas driver’s license.
Preferred Education and Experience: Five years of experience in law enforcement or a related field.
Physical Requirements: Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds or more. Prolonged hours of standing and/or walking.
