Job Description

The Registered Nursing Program Classroom Proctor is responsible for observing and monitoring nursing students during class time, completing student attendance records and reporting equipment problems to Information Technology. The proctor also reports student problems and concerns to program chair. This is a part-time position and governed by state and federal laws and institution policy.

Compensation: $14 per hour

Schedule: Availability required from 3 PM to 9 PM on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with occasional additional weekday and weekend hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Essential functions
    • Prepare classroom for student activities
    • Greet, direct, and assist students
    • Learn how to access the equipment as trained by IT, when all students are present
    • Manage the microphone, muting and unmuting it as needed for students to communicate with the instructor
    • Trouble-shoot equipment issues and contact the appropriate entity
    • Proctor students closely during testing and reviewing of exams. Students are not allowed to document test questions.
    • Ensure all phones and smart devices are secured in the back of the room during exams
    • Provide general assistance and program information
    • Notify the Program Chair or designee at least 4 hours prior to being absent
    • Document and report any disruptive behavior to the Program Chair
    • Maintain classroom environment conducive to learning
    • Act as a liaison between the Program Chair and students in distribution of necessary documents for the program
    • Maintain various records on attendance, complete attendance counseling forms and submit those to the Program Chair
    • Perform related responsibilities as required or assigned
    • Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with ARNEC-RN students, and the appropriate program chair
    • Take initiative in classroom management and problem solving within the scope assigned duties.
    • Communicate with lecturer as needed to facilitate course delivery
    • Maintain professional standards and confidentiality
    • Perform all job duties with honesty and integrity
