Medical Center of South Arkansas has appointed Scott M. Street as chief executive officer effective Oct. 30.

Street brings more than 20 years of hospital management experience, having previously held administrative roles at hospitals in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Most recently, Street served as CEO of Nacogdoches Memorial Health in Nacogdoches, Texas.

“I look forward to joining the south Arkansas community and to working with the valued physicians, dedicated employee team members and volunteers, and the board to serve patients who entrust their care to MCSA,” Street said. “My wife, Christine, and I are both from Arkansas and already feel a strong connection to the area.”

As administrator at NMH, a 231-bed hospital, Street cultivated relationships with stakeholders, including physicians, employees and the community resulting in the hospital being named the region’s “Best Hospital, Best ER and Best Women’s Center” for two consecutive years. NMH was also voted a “Great Place to Work” under Street’s leadership.

“I believe in a collaborative leadership style and hope to enhance the strong relationships we currently have internally and externally,” Street said. “Our community will benefit from our shared purpose and vision as we continue to provide caring, quality health care.”

At NMH, Street oversaw a $40 million expansion project; spearheaded a Leadership Institute to build leadership skills within the organization and initiated plans, programs and decisive governance to elevate the culture and bottom line. The hospital is the area’s only Level III Trauma and Level III Stroke center and also includes 16 clinics, over 1,000 employees and more than 50 integrated providers.

“Street’s valuable expertise in growing services, working closely with physicians and achieving high quality standards will ultimately benefit our patients,” said Dr. Robert Tommey, chairman, MCSA board of trustees. “On behalf of the entire board, we are excited to begin working with him and welcome him and his family to our community.”

Street has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia and a master’s degree in health care administration from University of Missouri, Columbia.

His wife, Christine (Roberson), was born at MCSA and graduated from El Dorado High School. He is originally from Cherokee Village. They have four children. Daughter Samantha Street Akers is a CPA and lives in northwest Arkansas and son Nathan Street works at Church at Rock Creek in Little Rock. Both are married and are OBU graduates. Son Zachary is currently a student at OBU and Jacob, a high school senior, plans to attend and play basketball at OBU next year.
