Discussions between representatives from Medical Center of South Arkansas and Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) resumed today and the proposed termination of the contract between the organizations was withdrawn.
The existing contract between the MCSA and BCBS will continue without interruption.
"Today?s developments make us optimistic that continued dialogue with BCBS will be both collaborative and productive,? said Medical Center of South Arkansas CEO Kyle Swift. "In the meantime, the many patients, community members and local employers who rely on Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield for their healthcare coverage can have peace of mind knowing their insurance plans will continue to include the local hospitals and physicians they know and trust with their medical care.?
As discussions progress between the hospital and Arkansas BCBS, MCSA and its affiliated physicians will continue to participate as "in-network? providers in BCBS insurance plans. BCBS members will experience no change in fees or in the way they interact with either the hospital or the health plan.
"We are pleased with this development and look forward to productive discussions with BCBS,? said Swift.
