Two hiring events are planned for the U.S. Census Bureau, which is seeking local residents to help with the upcoming 2020 Census.

Angela Haynes, program specialist at the Goodwill Career Services Center, said the center would be hosting two hiring events in June, with the first one set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the center at 1430 N. West Ave. The second one will also be held at the center, which is housed within the Goodwill store, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 17.

The U.S. Census Bureau is looking to hire for a range of positions and applicants must be 18 with a valid Social Security number and email address. Men who want to apply must also be registered with the Selective Service System.

The Census Bureau has held several hiring events in El Dorado this year, usually at the El Dorado Workforce Center. Those events advertised immediate openings for the early phase of address canvasing, which pays $14 per hour and offers 58 cents per mile for incurred mileage.

For more information on the Census Bureau openings or to apply online, visit 2020census.gov/jobs or call 1-855-JOB-2020.

The Goodwill Career Services Center is meant to provide free employment services for community members and business owners, and opened when the store moved to its current location in April.
