Union County voters select justices of the peace; cast ballots for a number of races

Cliff Preston received 240 unofficial votes for Union County Quorum Court Justice of the Peace District 10, while his opponent, Tim Foster, received 162 votes, when ballots were tallied Tuesday night at the Union County Courthouse.

For Justice of the Peace in District 11, candidate Ross Burton received 256 votes and James “Casey” Platt received 116 votes.

All vote totals are unofficial returns and votes will be certified in the next few days.

For Court of Appeals Associate Judge District 5, Union County voters cast 3,750 votes for James McMenis or 48.64 percent; 2,878 votes for Mark Klappenbach, 37.33 percent and Job Serebrov received 1,082 votes, or 14.03 percent.

For State District Court – District 35, Union County voters cast 3,125 votes for John Lightfoot, 2,957 for Jack Barker, 1,614 for Vicky Bussey Cooper and 650 for Lee B. Warden.

For State Representative, District 7, Union County voters cast 1,807 votes for Floyd M. Thomas Jr. and 874 for Garry L. Smith.

In Union County for State Supreme Court Associate Justice – Position 5, voters cast 3,838 votes for Judge Shawn A. Womack and 3,638 for Clark W. Mason.

For State Supreme Court Justice – Position 1, Union County voters cast 4,238 for Judge Dan Kemp and 3,441 for State Supreme Court Justice Courtney Goodson.

For United States Senate in Arkansas, Union County voters cast 2,328 votes for Senator John Boozman and 752 for Curtis Coleman.

Union County voters who cast ballots in the Republican Primary for president, cast 1,188 votes for Donald Trump, 1,138 for Ted Cruz, 662 for Marco Rubio, 187 for Ben Carson, 87 for John Kasich, 47 for Mike Huckabee, 25 for Jeb Bush, 16 for Rand Paul, 6 for Lindsey Graham, 6 for Rick Santorum, 5 for Chris Christie, 3 for Bobbie Jindal and 2 for Carly Fiorina.

For the Democratic candidate for president, Union County voters cast 2,548 votes for Hillary Clinton, 1,669 for Bernie Sanders, 277 for Roque “Rocky” De La Fuente, 212 for Martin J. O’Malley, 201 for James Valentine and 157 for John Wolfe.
