At the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources, we offer a variety of hands-on activities that explore the stories of the people who lived through the 1920s south Arkansas oil boom. Come to the museum and discover some of the fun times that children enjoyed during that decade, especially for the holidays. Yo-yos and electric trains. Teddy bears and spinning tops. What do these toys have in common? They were just some of the popular toys of the 1920s. See a few toys from that decade on the Boomtown Street exhibit gallery in the museum. Then make your own old-fashioned toy using cardboard, bamboo skewers, tape, and art foam. Experiment with different designs. Then decorate your toy, as you uncover fun facts about holiday celebrations during the oil boom with a park interpreter. Contact the museum at (870) 725-2877 to reserve a place in the program. Covid-19 guidelines will be in effect for guest and staff safety. Space may be limited.
