Liberty Tree Dedication with Sons of American Revolution

June 10 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Sons of the American Revolution-DeSoto Trace Chapter announced today and America 250 Celebration event. An Elm tree has been planted at the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium to commemorate the famous Elm Tree that once stood near the Boston Common. In the years prior to the American Revolution many acts of resistance and defiance against British rule were planned and staged beneath this tree. It became known as the “Liberty Tree”. The tree was later chapped down by the British in 1775. This history of the Liberty Tree and relevance still lived today. The planting of this one tree will preserve the bit of history for future generations. This is our opportunity to remember and celebrate our Patriot’s actions.

The Elm tree that was planted was provided by the Arkansas Department of Agriculture. They provided 37 elm trees to the Arkansas Society Sons of the American Revolution for this purpose. The City of El Dorado and the Dirst Friends Graden Group donated funding and labor to plant it and add landscape to the location. The ceremony begins at 11:00am on June 10, 2026, at the El Dorado Municipal Auditorium, 100 W 8th. The public is invited to attend the ceremony
