EL DORADO – A number of contests were held at the SouthArk Outdoor Expo on Sept. 10 at South Arkansas Community College. The event is an effort of the SouthArk Foundation.
The $2,000 top prize in the rib cook-off went to Tailboard BBQ, with JKB’s Ring of Fire second and Tailgaters third. High Flying BBQ, Baby Lane’s BBQ and My Wife Let Me Enter Today rounded out the top six.
In the cooker’s choice category, Tailgaters won, followed by Caribbean Moon and My Wife Let Me Enter Today. For best team spirit, House Asset Development took first with Dixieland Smokers second and Downhome Grillers third. Best rig construction went to Milam Construction, with Tailgaters second and Tailboard BBQ third.
Caleb Mills won the best of show prize in the photograph contest. Britni Case, Ryan Hill and Mills went first through third in the wildlife category. Mills took both first and second place in flora with Tiffany Wolfskill in third. Hill claimed first and second in the scenic category with Chad Wilson third. Nathan Odem took first in people in the outdoors with Crystal Kennedy second and Hill third.
In the youth talent show ages 8 to 11, Jaylynn Crawford won, with Madison Jacobs second and Laney Bounds third; ages 12 to 14, Layken Grimes was first with Abby Bounds second and ages 15 to 17, Veronique Moore was first with Latrell Thrower second.
Ronnie Primm took Best of Show in the Car Show. In the subcategories, Trevor Res (modern muscle), Bobby Parks (truck), Toby Russell (sports utility vehicle), Dale Lee (stock), Terry Williams (street rod), Freddie McKinley (muscle) and Primm (antique) took top prizes.
