The second annual Union County Job Fair will provide a full-service experience to job seekers. The fair provides an opportunity for them to meet representatives from a variety of local businesses that are hiring and get professional resume assistance on site. The Union County Job Fair, sponsored by Martin Lubricants, is on Tues., May 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the El Dorado Conference Center, located at 311 S. West Ave. The El Dorado Chamber of Commerce is hosting and organizing the event.
"We?ve had a tremendous response from businesses ? both large and small ? who will have booths at the job fair to meet potential candidates,? said Lori Coke, the Chamber?s economic development project manager. "Last year, we hosted the first Union County Job Fair, and we had more than 200 job seekers come and meet with representatives from more than 30 businesses. We hope this year?s event will be even bigger.?
Specialists from South Arkansas Community College (SouthArk) will be on hand to assist job seekers by providing their Resume Assistance Center. At the center, there will be multiple computer stations available and one-on-one resume-building assistance. Those with existing resumes may bring them in for review and feedback. Job seekers who use the center will be able to leave with printed resumes. Those who take advantage of this are encouraged to bring a flash drive so that they may leave with an electronic copy.
"The South Arkansas Community College Career Center is motivated by our desire to assist area job seekers and to collaborate with the business community to identify qualified workers,? said Grace Palculict, a career specialist at SouthArk. "One can expect to walk away from the Resume Assistance Center with a completed resume suitable for job hunting both through electronic and traditional means.?
