SAAC Registration for Spring Classes Still Open

The South Arkansas Arts Center announces that registration is still ongoing for Creative Arts Academy Spring classes. Classes are offered in art, ballet, computer arts, drama, and music. Various classes still have space available for students. To register, contact the SAAC office at 862-5474.

Instructor Maria Villegas has space available in her classes for grades 2-3, which meets on Mondays from 3:45-4:45pm. In "Far and Near Go the Lines In All Directions-What Can You Find,? students will work on engaging projects based on the work of acclaimed artists to create art works on paper and canvas. Space is also available for "A World Full of Wordy Pictures,? for grades 4-6. Students will create images with words and letters, gain skills in drawing and painting, and develop creativity. "A Forest of New Ideas,? for grades 7-12 still has space available. Students will create individual projects under Villegas? guidance gaining skills in drawing, painting, and other techniques. Space is also available for Advance Studio Art which meets on Mondays from 4:45-6:45.

Instructor Gay Bechtelheimer offers an Adult Open Studio on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30 p.m. The studio is ongoing and is $10 per session.

Space is available in all ballet classes offered by instructors Melissa Spears and Stephanie Lowery. Ballet is offered for grades PK-12, as well as a 3-4 Year Old Pre-Ballet class. Classes meet on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

Instructor Mike Means has very limited space available for "Drawing with Digital Tools,? Design in Photoshop, which meets on Monday from 3:45-4:45. Means also offers an Open Studio Monday Nights from 6-8pm. This class is ongoing and is $10 per session.

Instructor Darrin Riley still has space available in Drama One, which meets on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30pm. The class, for students in grades 1-4, will work on an original play entitled "A Spring Day for Fairies and Elves.? Drama Two, for students in grades 5-8, Meets on Thursday from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Students will continue working on the one-act comedy "MmmBeth.? Drama Three, for students in grades 9-12, meets on Tuesday from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The class takes an advanced approach to acting through various classic and contemporary playwrights.
